MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET OF CHEMICAL PRODUCTS (SDS/MSDS)
What kind of document is it?
The material safety data sheet of chemical products (SDS (safety data sheet)/MSDS (material safety data sheet)) is an obligatory technical document which contains information about safety of industrial and household application, storage, transportation and recycling of chemical products. The development of the material safety data sheet of chemical products (SDS/MSDS) is carried out according to the legislation of that country (or the region) where a product is made or export of a product is planned. The different legislation and requirements to contents and preparation of the material safety data sheet (SDS/MSDS) apply in the European Union, in the countries of East Asia (for example, Japan and China), Latin America (Brazil, Argentina and Cuba), the USA, Canada and in other countries.
What organizations give it out?
The manufacturer or supplier of products on the market develops material safety data sheets of chemical products (SDS/MSDS) and bears responsibility for completeness and reliability of the information presented in them.Unlike the material safety data sheets of the Russian Federation (MSD of the Russian Federation), material safety data sheets (SDS/MSDS) are not subject to registration.
In what cases do you need it?
The material safety data sheet of chemical products (SDS/MSDS) needs to be developed in case of export of chemicals and mixtures which can be, for example, included in the categories of dangerous, resistant, bioaccumulative and toxic substances, and in some other cases.
