What kind of document is it?
The material safety data sheet of chemical products of the Russian Federation (MSD of the Russian Federation) is an obligatory technical document which contains information about safety of industrial and household application, storage, transportation and utilization of chemical products. The development of the material safety data sheet is carried out, according to requirements of GOST 30333-2007 "The material safety data sheet of chemical products. The general requirements", to provide the consumer with information on dangerous properties of a product in order to decrease:
- risk of injury and harm to health at all stages of life cycle of a product;
- number of emergencies and extreme situations caused by maloperation with a product;
- probabilities of environmental pollution in the case of a leak, a flood and scattering of a product.
What organizations give it out?
The material safety data sheets of chemical products of the Russian Federation (MSD of the Russian Federation) are developed by the manufacturer, the supplier or the seller, then it is necessary to carry out an examination and registration of material safety data sheets.
The examination and registration of material safety data sheets in the Russian Federation, according to the Order of Federal Agency of Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) of June 11, 2014 No. 96, are carried out by "Coordinating informational center of CIS member states on approximation of regulatory practices" Association.
In what cases do you need it?
According to GOST 30333-2007, the material safety data sheet needs to be developed on chemical products (substances, mixtures, materials, industrial waste) and it is not necessary to be developed on minerals in the condition of bedding, finished medicine, finished perfumes and cosmetic goods radiating nuclear and radioactive materials, finished food products, and chemical products which are manufactured in accordance with the closed nomenclature.
